Joe Wayne Hampton

Joe Wayne Hampton was born July 21, 1940, in Branson, Missouri, to Fred Henderson Hampton and Mary Lee Hall Hampton. He died Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in Collinsville, Oklahoma, at the age of 85 years. Joe completed his secondary education in Owasso, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Owasso High School Class of 1958. He was married February 18, 1960, in Collinsville, Oklahoma, to Mary Ann Hewitt. They had made their home in Collinsville since that time where they raised their family. Joe spent most of his working years in member services with Verdigris Valley Electric Cooperative in Collinsville. He was a strong man of faith and was a member of Collinsville First Baptist Church. Joe enjoyed a variety of pastimes including looking for a good bargain at garage sales and storage auctions. He was a collector of many items and worked many construction projects over the years. He enjoyed spending time out on the golf course, along with his Little Debbie snacks. Joe dearly loved his family and thoroughly enjoyed all his kids and grandkids sporting events and activities. Those he leaves behind who hold a lifetime of cherished memories include: His wife of over 66 years; Mary Ann, of the home Children; Kim Ford Terry Hampton Philip Hampton Grandchildren; Heather Kirk and husband Matt, of Morris, Oklahoma Lisa Thrower and husband Chris, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma DeMichael Moore and husband Nathan, of Boswell, Oklahoma Taylor Hampton and partner Jesse Watson, of Tulsa, Oklahoma Delanie Collier and husband Zack, Bennington, Oklahoma Blake Ford, of Owasso, Oklahoma and thirteen Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary Hampton, brothers, Freddie Hampton and Bill Hampton, and sister, Patty Hampton. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 27, 2026, at the Collinsville First Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Prock officiating.
