Roland Sedlmeier, age 49, died September 20, 2015, in Montgomery, Texas. He was born August 15, 1966, in Ingolstadt, Germany, where he served proudly in the special forces of the German Army. He then became a pilot which brought him to Canada and the United States. He served as a missionary pilot for Mission Aviation Fellowship in Kenya where he met Mendy.
Melinda Joan Sedlmeier (Mendy), age 42, died September 20, 2015, in Montgomery, Texas. She was born January 9, 1973, in Tulsa, Oklahoma and she studied accounting at John Brown University. Then worked in Tulsa until she was called to the mission field. Mendy served God as an IMB missionary in Kenya and later was seconded to AIM AIR.
Roland and Mendy were married July 17, 2008, by Mendy’s father, Johnny Nantz, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They returned to Kenya after to continue serving. This is where they started their family.
Harley Erich Sedlmeier, age 6, died September 20, 2015, in Montgomery, Texas. He was born May 8, 2009, in Nairobi, Kenya. Harley was enrolled at Madeley Ranch Elementary School in Montgomery, Texas, where he was in First grade. He also was involved in many children’s activities at church. His kindergarten teacher asked Harley what he wanted to be when he grew up. He said, “I want to be on the Avengers Squad!” We have no doubt Jesus has put him on a squad.
Sofie Ana Sedlmeier, age 4, died September 20, 2015, in Montgomery, Texas. She was born November 9, 2010, in Wooster, Ohio. Our little princess loved her stuffed animals, puppies and playing with her brother. Sofie would play “make believe” for hours but always enjoyed getting outside as well. She was involved in Awana’s at church and loved singing praises to Jesus. We know that she is still singing in heaven today.

My deepest condolences to the bereaved families on this tragic incident. As a member of TransCanada family, I offer my prayers that the Lord God will bring comfort, peace, strength and wrap His loving arms around you all during this difficult time. Roland, Mendy and their children are now in the best place with the Lord. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Oh what a day of rejoicing it will be, when we all see them with the Lord Jesus, we will sing and shout in victory!

In the arms of our Precious savior! Oh what grief.. So sorry for the family. The connections I have are: TransCanada employee, friends who serve in MAF team and most likely brother in Christ. I believe I will meet them in eternity and get acquainted there! May God grant His unending Peace to the family!

My heart goes blank to have lost such a lovely family. I am from Houston but working at Roland’s company in Calgary, Alberta, CA. I know God has Roland flying a new sort of Special Forces mission now, and his beautiful family is at the foot of His Grace.

I am so saddened by this tragedy. As a member of the TransCanada family, I had the opportunity to work with Roland when he was in Omaha. I flew with Roland multiple times and always enjoyed his humor. He was also a great pilot! I had the chance to live in Germany and I failed to cancel my roadside assistance subscription before I left. I kept getting bills from them and brought one in for Roland to translate for me. Without asking, he drafted a letter saying I was no longer in Germany and to cancel the subscription. It was so thoughtful and he was so kind and always looking for ways to help. You will be missed Roland! Condolences to Roland and Melinda’s families. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

My kids & I are mourning the loss of their summer teacher, their friends and my texting buddy. Jude loved playing with Sofie. I miss seeing her everyday and hugging her. I was so mad at God when I first heard about it, but now this tragedy has strangely lead me closer to my Higher Power. Which I feel is what Mendy would have wanted. My deepest condolences to all the families.
