Vernon Allen Brown was born December 2, 1927, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, to Frank Brown and Pearl (Cothron) Brown. He died Friday, October 9, 2015, in Collinsville, Oklahoma, at the age of 87 years. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served in the Air Force. Vernon was married to Mary C. Hatch February 5, 1949 , in Van Buren, Arkansas. He spent the first half of his working life as a structure mechanic for McDonald Douglas and North American Rockwell for over 20 years and was able to work on the original Apollo Project during that time. He spent the rest of his life farming and helped start Brown Farm Sod in 1972. Vernon was a member of Collinsville Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including farming, playing the guitar and singing Blue Grass Gospel Music, and teaching his two year old great grandson to play the harmonica and playing the guitar with his ten year old great granddaughter. Vernon also loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Melvin Brown, Estel Brown, and Cotton Brown.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Collinsville Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor William Adcock Officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Owasso, Oklahoma. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service. www.moweryfs.com
