James William “Jim” Hendrickson, 77, of Owasso, Oklahoma, passed away at home on March 7, 2016.
Jim was born in Oklahoma City on July 31, 1938, to John “Jack” Patrick and Margaret Mary (McDowell) Hendrickson. He graduated from St. Gregory’s High School in Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1957. He earned the Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas in 1962.
Jim married his loving wife, Alice Ann (Bonifield) Hendrickson, in Borger, Texas, on August 22, 1959; they were married for 57 years.
In 1962, Jim and Ann moved to Tulsa where he began his career with McDonnell Douglas working on the Apollo Space project. Later he lived and worked in Tehran, Iran, for AeroSystems Engineering. He subsequently worked for over 20 years in management for American Airlines in Tulsa. In later years he founded Southwest Project Management and served as a project manager for both Brown Root and Johnson Controls. He retired in 2014.
All things mechanical were his passion, and he would fix anything for anyone. He was actively involved in Toastmasters and was an accomplished bridge player. He enjoyed vacationing with his friends, was an avid reader, loved talking politics, and spent many hours fishing at the lake.
Jim is survived by his wife, Ann; son, Mark (Lisa) Hendrickson; son, Steve (Deana) Hendrickson; daughter Theresa (Ron) Horton; grandchildren, Samantha, Olivia, and Isabella Hendrickson, Molly and Zachary Hendrickson, Conor, Jack, Alice, and Jimmy Horton; brothers, John “Pat” and Jeff Hendrickson; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe Hendrickson.

Words written here will never reflect nor describe what a brother and best friend Jim was always to me. I now find myself walking through this valley of sorrows and grief, unable to lift my head or contain my huge volume of tears. Jim will ALWAYS remain front and center as my dearest friend. My heart hurts for Ann and their children and grandchildren … Our love goes out with our prayers for all of you.
