Floyd Austin Bowman was born on June 10, 1924, in Monticello, Illinois, to Floyd Edward and Doris Elizabeth (Wildman) Bowman. He died Wednesday, June 22, 2016, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 92 years. After graduating from Monticello High School in 1942, Floyd joined the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Marines. He married Betty Jean Primmer on April 4, 1944; and they were blessed with three children. After serving his tour of duty with the Marine Corps, Floyd returned to work with his father at Bowman Hardware and Electric in Monticello, Illinois. He worked several years there then began his career and retired from the Department of Public Aid by becoming Superintendent of Public Aid for Piatt County in Illinois. After retirement, Floyd took on another career endeavor by opening a business with his son, B & B Lifetime Homes, working as a construction supervisor. He was a past chaplain for the Owasso Masonic Lodge #545 and was a member of the Tulsa York Rite Bodies. Floyd enjoyed a variety of pastimes including stained glass work, playing golf, boating and writing his blog – “opinionsbasedonfacts.blogspot.com.” Most important to him was spending time with his family.

Three grandchildren: Todd Hughes, Christopher Bowman and Eric Bowman
Four Great Grandchildren: Keirsty Hughes, Kairei Hughes, A.J. Bowman and Ben Bowman

Sister: Mary Jean Blodgett of Naples, Florida
He was preceded in death by his wife.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the Owasso Masonic Lodge #545, 11680 East 76th Street North, Owasso, Oklahoma. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
