Norma Lee Ward was born October 25, 1930, in Girard, Kansas, to Leo Ronald and Mildred Irene (Hudson) Watts. She died Friday, July 8, 2016, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 85 years. Norma Lee completed her secondary education in Cherokee, Kansas, and graduated with the Crawford Community High School Class of 1948. She was married May 10, 1952, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Charles A. Ward. Norma Lee began her working career with Tri-State Insurance Company as a secretary from 1948-1953. It was at that time she began her 48-year career with the Spartan School of Aeronautics; 17 years with the Spartan Aviation Service Division, followed by 31 years with the school as administrative assistant to the president, then as Director of Human Resources. She was a member of the Personnel Association of Tulsa and Professional Secretaries International, serving two terms as president. Norma Lee was a longtime faithful believer who has always been active with her local church body, beginning with Belview Baptist Church in Tulsa where she served as church clerk for eight years. She later became a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Owasso, serving as church clerk since 1964. She also taught Sunday school 1st through 5th grades as well as singing in the church choir. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including embroidery, and at one time, roller skating. She was good bowler and bowled in a ladies league with her church friends. She enjoyed watching baseball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Wayne Eldon Watts, Sr.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2016, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. The Funeral service will be held 1:00 Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Bethel Baptist Church in Owasso with Pastor Bill Ascol officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Scott Francis, Norman Hare, Steve Henry, Warren Henry, Joe Ramey, Jason Watts, Matthew Watts, Ronald A. Watts, and Wayne E. “Donnie” Watts, Jr. Committal services and interment will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions in Norma Lee’s memory to the Bethel Baptist Church Cold Water Fund, 10705 East 86th Street North, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
