Florence A. Edwards, longtime resident of Owasso, passed from this life on Tuesday evening, July 12, 2016, at the age of 70 years. Florence was born to Orval and Irene (Ramsdale) Vance in Portland, Oregon on November 18, 1945. She was raised by her adoptive parents Henry and Elba Mae (Jones) Hamlin in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where she graduated high school. On September 10, 1966, Florence and Gerald Edwards were united in marriage; and to this union, four children were born.
Florence worked for many years as an administrative assistant to the Dean of Associates of the University Of Tulsa School Of Law. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Owasso where she participated in the Bible Study and the UMW. She and Gerald had previously been active members of the Owasso First Baptist Church. Florence was an accomplished painter, having received her degree in Art from the University of Tulsa. She had always been active in her children’s activities and had served as a scout den mother; it goes without saying that family was always a priority with her.
Those that survive include her husband of 49 years, Gerald; their children, James Edwards and wife Cindy of Princeton, New Jersey, Vicki Edwards-Thomas and husband James of Oologah, Oklahoma, Dena Geib and husband Richard of Skiatook, Oklahoma, and Susan Edwards Spence and husband Justin of Owasso; grandchildren, Grant Edwards, Corey Vitt and wife Sarah, Kalie Meoli and husband Eric, Drew Dietlin, J.W. Thomas, Gabby Thomas, Grace Fae Cook-Thomas, Dylan Geib, Ryan Geib and Delilah Spence; and great granddaughter Kyra Meoli.
Memorial services for Florence will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 15, 2016, in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church in Owasso. Officiating will be Pastor Chuck Horton. At her request, cremation will take place. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to the Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso. www.moweryfs.com

I will never forget all the times growing up and hanging out at your home! All the times I just walked in and helped myself to your fridge. I was always welcomed and loved every time I saw you. Your family will always hold a special spot in my heart and I will never forget all the memories made. I will forever love you and your family.

Flo was such an amazing person. I have been friends with Susan since 4th grade and I was at their house so much when we were younger. Flo was always smiling and laughing. I will always remember her laugh! It was contagious. She always asked how you were and seemed interested in what you had to say. I noticed this with her own children and grandchildren. She had a lot of love for her family and you could tell they were her priority. I loved going over to their home around the holidays. She always had her home decorated and she made their home feel like a place that was truly for family and made you feel comfortable being there. I think it wasn’t just the decorations, but it was her, she made you feel that way around her. She will certainly be missed by many and I will have her family in my thoughts and prayers during this time.

I worked with Flo at the University of Tulsa College of Law. Flo always had a smile for me and made me laugh, I enjoyed her sense of humor very much.
We would often exchange stories about our families. Flo was a lovely lady.
My sympathies to the Edwards family.

Truly one of the nicest, most pleasant people I have ever worked with. She was my angel at the Law School; when I had a question, she always had an answer. Now heaven has another angel.
