George Norman Stacey was born March 3, 1934, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to John Henry and Rose Blondina VanKuren Stacey. He died Monday, December 26, 2016, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 82 years. George was reared and educated in Connecticut and was a graduate of Harding High School. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was married September 27, 1958, in Stratford, Connecticut, to Barbara Ann Burba. George spent most of his working life as a butcher with A & P Tea Company. He also worked as a cook with Karl Ehmer’s and was a shop foreman with Shielding Resources Group.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Rose Blondina Stacey; step-father, Steve Meyernick; three brothers, Jim Stacey, Jack Stacey, and Bob Stacey; and two sisters, Mildred Soledi, and Jane Stacey.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2016, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 2, 2016, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Owasso with Father Matt LaChance officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Michael Lahita, Caleb Thetford, Mitch Clements, Colton Thetford, DJ Stacey, Matthew Stacey, Kevin Lira, and Kyle Townsend. Private family disposition will be held at a later date. The family requests memorial contributions be made in George’s memory to the American Lung Association, 1010 East Eighth Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74012. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
